The Barrier-Floto floatator treats waste water from oil, grease and other impurities. This small device is installed in an existing treatment system or as a stand-alone unit. The use of flotation units gives significant economic advantages in comparison with other cleaning methods.

The principle of operation of the pressure flotation device is based on the property of air particles to remove hydrophobic particles (oil products, fats, suspended solids, organic impurities, surfactants, oils and other insoluble contaminants and inorganic impurities) from the effluents. Flotation is based on the ability of contaminating particles present in waste water to form so-called flotation complexes (sticking to air bubbles) and rise to the surface, passing into a foam layer. Air bubbles are able to remove only hydrophobic particles from waste water that are not moistened with water. For this reason, it is recommended that coagulants and flocculants be used in addition to the floatator to intensify the cleaning process. These are substances that are sorbed on the surface of contaminants, reduce their moisturising properties, and thus make it possible to treat various effluents. The flocculus enables the removal of impurities in the form of stable emulsions and suspended solids, as well as in colloidal state.
Preparation and dosing of coagulant and flocculant solutions is carried out by means of preparation and delivery of reagents, which are supplied by our company together with Barrier-Floto. Coagulant and flocculant grades and doses are specified in the course of operation of the treatment facilities by means of pilot tests. Recommended reagents:
- Coagulants - poly-oxychloride aluminium, sulphuric aluminium;
- Cationic, anionic or non-ionic flocculants.
The main advantage of the pressure flotation devices produced by the company PA "Water Ecology" is the combination of reaction chamber, flotation and separation in one with the application of the effect of thin-layer phase separation. The initial runoff enters the flotation chamber, where there is a sharp decrease in pressure. At the same time, the dissolved air is released in small bubbles, which carry away the impurities present in the runoff and form a foam layer on the floatator's mirror (surface). From the flotation chamber, the effluent passes into the separation chamber with thin-layer elements located in it. The final release of dissolved air takes place in the separation chamber. Combination of flotation and separation with application of thin-layer modules for phase separation allowed to achieve a higher degree of purification with a significant reduction of floatator dimensions. The flotation unit is equipped with all the necessary shutoff valves, treated water pocket with the possibility of installation of the pump and pumping water to the following structures and quick-removeable thin-layer modules. The pressure floatator has many working elements: pumping units, compressors, saturator, flotation chamber and devices that collect and remove foam formed during cleaning.
The floatator is made of steel, stainless steel, polypropylene or a combined structure.
